When we were cavemen we had a close relationship with nature. We respected and appreciated what we found 'in the wild.' Strawberry Field was made in appreciation of nature and the all it provides (food). The red string in the work is a Japanese symbol of this relationship, 'Mizuhik.'
The "Pattern and Imagery" series is similar to a 'jam session' in my mind. While creating this series, I started to paint without a specific plan and gradually decided how the painting would take shape. I treated each material as a different musical instrument and tried to archive an almost unexpected harmony.
