Upcoming Digital Exhibition:

'LAST WE HEARD'

Ferris Martinez

Art Attack SF is proud to present: 'LAST WE HEARD' - A solo exhibition of works

by Ferris Martinez

“This recent body of work is many things to me: an ode to my obsession with detail, a love letter to the human figure, a joyful - and frankly, surprising - synthesis of explosive color and loose mark making. More than this however, these pieces represent a shift in my practice towards risk, that quality that elevates the materials to something beyond canvas, oil and pigment. As one whose artistic tastes have always veered towards the visually literal, the importance of this change cannot be understated; far too often I have found myself wedded to the reference material to the point of stagnation, resulting in work that, while technically proficient, was increasingly less enjoyable to create.

Perhaps most crucially then, this show is a snapshot of an artist in willing flux, embracing play, learning how to work without fear and reservation. And while I do not think I will ever get away from the representational (and not that I want to!), in these paintings, which for so long have stared back at me from the walls of my studio, I believe I have lighted upon something vital and rejuvenating; it is a new direction that serves as both a reminder of what has come before, and what is possible in the future, and I am eager to continue.”

'LAST WE HEARD' will be on exhibition and digital display from 9/3 till 9/27

Our History

Art Attack SF was founded in 2012 by James Capadona at the cusp of North Beach and Fisherman’s Warf Districts. In 2017, Art Attack SF relocated to 2358 Market Street in the Castro District dedicated to spotlight exhibitions. It occupies a gallery space in San Francisco and represents an expanding roster of local artists.

Over the years, the gallery has established a strong, artist-led exhibition programme, exhibiting pioneering new work by contemporary artists. As the gallery grows we have expanded to showcase more of Californias talented artists. Working with up coming artists and the community to have a long lasting relationship. We keep it fun and welcoming to all.
